3500 years ago, one man named Abraham dug a single well in the non attractive Negev desert, developing his sheep and goat farm around it. Today, around the same well, live 200,000 Hebrews...this is the city of Beer-Sheva. In the 1960's, the JNF started planting European climate pine trees in the Negev-Judea desert. Today, there are over four million trees and this is the second largest planted forest in the world!

So, if we combine the two facts and aim at converting barren desert rock land into green forest tourist based community settlements, may we expect the above returns? And maybe, with the development of permaculture knowledge, expand to desert growing fruit trees as well?..
