They are known as "Bulbusim", a phenomena of sedimentation and "crystallizing" around a core material, eventually resulting in a large round ball like rock. Along Nachal Ye'elon, we will see quite a few of this unusual phenomena... These are the giant ice-cream balls of the Negev desert.
